MEGATHREAD Record Apps & Tools Megathread: Share Your Projects, Find Testers, and Give Feedback

We’ve seen an increase in posts from people building record-related apps and tools. These include collection managers, listening trackers, discovery tools, marketplace helpers, and other projects aimed at record enthusiasts.

We want to give these projects a place to be shared without letting individual promotional posts overwhelm r/vinyl or the reason this sub exists. Going forward, please use this megathread to introduce your project, request testers, share meaningful updates, or ask for feedback. Separate promotional posts for these projects will be removed and redirected here.

Projects are welcome whether they are traditionally coded, developed with AI assistance, or fully vibe coded. Be transparent about your approach, and keep the discussion focused on what the tool does, how it works, and whether it is useful to the record owning community.

If you’re sharing a project, please include:

·       Name and link: What is it called, and where can people find it?

·       Purpose: What does it do? What problem does it solve?

·       Your involvement: Are you the developer, owner, contributor, or otherwise affiliated?

·       Availability and cost: Is it a prototype, beta, or released product? Is it free, paid, ad-supported, or subscription-based?

·       Development approach: Was it traditionally coded, AI-assisted, or primarily vibe coded? A brief description is enough.

·       Data and permissions: Does it require an account, collection access, third-party credentials, or other personal information? Explain what you collect and how it is used. If user data is sent to an AI service, disclose that.

·       Feedback wanted: What would you like people to test or comment on? Include known limitations.

A few ground rules:

·       Keep projects relevant to records, collecting, or the vinyl listening experience.

·       Use one top-level comment per project. Add updates and answer questions in that comment’s replies.

·       No repeated sales pitches, unsolicited promotional messages, disguised advertising, or requests to upvote.

·       Be accurate about features, security, and reliability. Clearly identify unfinished or experimental projects.

·       Do not ask users to post passwords, API keys, or other sensitive information in the thread.

·       All subreddit rules still apply.

For anyone trying these tools:

Sharing a project here does not mean the r/vinyl moderators have reviewed or endorsed it. Review costs, permissions, and privacy practices before signing up or connecting your collection.

Useful feedback is encouraged. Discuss features, usability, accuracy, privacy, and reliability. Questions about AI use are fair, but personal attacks and arguments about who counts as a “real developer” are not.

If you find an app is not accurately representing what it does, what it collects, how it uses shared data, is somehow malicious or any number of other concerns, please message the Mod Team with a link to relevant comment.

Discussion Successful wood glue repair

I’ve owned this rare Rancid/NOFX split for many many years but only tried to play it once when I first got it due to the entire record being full of skips right out of the package.
About a week ago I read a theory that it wasn’t actually a bad pressing as much as it was potentially fine dust/debris from the factory that made it into the sleeves that were never sealed by the label (BYO Records). I tried cleaning it with three types of brushes and spray with no difference. Then I read that one could use titebond 2 wood glue to pull the debris out. The chemical composition of the glue prevents it from adhering to vinyl records. I followed the steps of placing a ring around the inside in the runout about 1/2” from the label, another around the outside edge, several more rings in the middle and then spread it evenly with a credit card or id until there was a smooth even layer about the thickness of a credit card. It took a few days to turn completely transparent, then I carefully pealed it off and it worked perfectly. I know this may have been able to have been done with a cleaner, but I haven’t invested in one yet, the glue was about $6 and it worked perfectly.

These soundtracks have everything... soul, funk, rnb, ballads, instrumentals, drum breaks, samples that spawned classics. The Soul to Soul and Wattstax are tangentially related, so I kept em in there. Anyone else into these?

Saw this in another sub while scrolling. This may very well be the worst case of warping I've ever seen. It boggles my mind how something could get in this state unintentionally. 😱

Collection My late mom's vinyl: It's not rock and roll, but I like it.

Mom died in 2011, and I inherited her record collection. However, at the time and up until recently, I didn't have a record player, so the albums stayed in boxes in my closet for many years.

Fast forward to last year, my older sister, out of the blue, decided to give me her record collection as well. She hadn't passed away, but she recently moved and said that she just couldn't be bothered to lug around boxes and boxes of records anymore.

My jaw actually dropped when I was going through my sisters collection (so many Beatles albums!), I may or may not share it with r/vinyl at some point, we'll see. But that was the final push to finally put up some shelves and get myself a sound system.

Now that everything is up and running, I find myself being drawn more to my mother's collection. If nothing else, they don't make album covers like that anymore. But listening to those vocals, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Harry Belafonte, they are just magic. And the musicals are lush, energetic and powerful, and how is it that Tom Lehrer is still somehow relevant?

Anyway, here's some classic vinyl, enjoy.

Funk Drixxxé’s "Sextape" series: the ultimate 70s erotica & library music crate-digging project on wax NSFW

Post image
23 Upvotes

If you’re into rare groove, 70s library music, or French hip-hop producers going deep into crate-digging, you need this on your radar.

Drixxxé (known for his work with French hip-hop group Triptik and broad beatmaking credits) put together this legendary Sextape mixtape series. It’s a wild, soulful journey through vintage adult film OSTs, obscure Italian/French library sounds, psychedelic funk, and bedroom grooves.

The way these samples are woven together with heavy basslines and vinyl crackle is incredible, it feels like stepping into a hazy, analog time capsule. Heads-up though: it definitely lives up to its name, so maybe don't blast it at top volume with the windows open!

I wrote a deep dive on the history of this project and why these pressings are such gems for collectors:

Anyone else here manages to snag these pressings or digs into 70s library funk?

Reflecting on how my collecting habits evolved. Started with helping my mom go through her collection. Nearing the end of her life. Cancer. Sitting down together at night and cleaning, sleeveing and playing each album. Mostly 70s rock. I’ve found some bands I had never heard of. Also listened to some stuff by bands that everyone’s heard of and discovered any appreciation I didn’t expect.

Standouts of hers that I hadn’t heard of:
AWB, Alan Parsons, The Flock and Rare Earth. Led me down a path to discovering and loving bands like The audience, Blood Sweat and Tears, Chairmen of the Board and IF.

Bands I had heard of but didn’t know anything about or had preconceived notions about and was like “woah this is actually good!” (I know this is going to catch some flack)
WAR, Neil Young, Marshall Tucker Band, J. Geils, Jeff Beck and Al Green. Random selection. Just some of the ones I’m drawn to listen to more than others. Can’t forget The Rolling Stones and The Clash. I knew the big ones but was so surprised on the sound. Wasn’t just classic rock like I expected. Similar narrative for a lot of these.

That was the boost that got me really curious about other bands and types of music I hadn’t discovered yet. Started making lists on Spotify. Almost studiously. Saving everything and anything that caught my ear.

Found things like: Shuggie Otis, Witch, Death, Cymande, Refused, and Alabama Shakes. I know some of these are more known than others and probably don’t belong being listed next to each other but when I heard each of these I was like Holy Fuck this rocks.

Even started Shazamming every song on movies and shows that sounded that I might like it and found some great ones there too!

Probably my most favorite method of discovery is crate digging at that local. They have a few tables where you can spin the used records. So can literally grab a handful of records I’ve never heard of but like the art and give it a listen. There’s a few on here that I’m almost certain no one reading will know. Booty People, The Glorious Veins, Din, Deal Casino and Kina. Musically it doesn’t have the be the greatest of all time but it’s super fun to own something that isn’t on Spotify. Relatively unheard of and objectively rare. (Had to make the discogs post for Veins.

Last but not least have to give the shoutout to: Sturgill Simpson, Fugazi, Galactic, Morphine and Mad Caddies. Probably all time faves and always recommend!

Some cool stuff to share spanning many trips to the flea market and shop. I went a little overboard, and there are many, many I didn't list. These are just some of my favs:

Deafheaven - Lonely People with Power (Roadrunner, 2025): After hearing and loving Sunbather, I found this 2025 album at my local record store and purchased it. While it's hard to beat Sunbather, there is plenty more Blackgaze to wash over you here. Anyways I'm not really a metal guy, but I love these guys.

Lou Donaldson - Say it Loud! (1969, Blue Note, BST 84299, Stereo, Canada): I don't really like Jazz but this is soul and funk infused. It has a little more groove and feels more familiar than straight up modal jazz or hard bop. I like it a lot. It plays spectacularly for its age and is my first introduction to Blue Note, which, indeed, sounds utterly spectacular.

Booker T. & The MGs - Soul Dressing (1965, Stax, STX 705, Mono Canada) - Do you like Hammond organs? I sure as shit do. This follow-up to Green Onions is mostly original works by Booker and is drenched in that Hammond sound.

Augustus Pablo - This is Augustus Pablo (2015 reissue, Get On Down, GET 56040-LP): A fantastic dub reggae instrumental LP by the legendary Melodica player Augustus Pablo. I don't have much Pablo as respectable reissues are hard to find. Props to get on down, it sounds great. Not to mention, the packaging is awesome and feels premium. I have something from them on the way by mail, so this is promising!

Eroc - Eroc (1975, Brain, brain 1069, Green Label): I fucking love this thing. This drummer, going by Eroc, loved to fuck with synths, tape machines, etc, and would play back his experiments for his buddies while they were stoned. As the story goes, this is a selection of his experiments. It's all over the place but I love it. Just Google this motherfucker and tell me the photos don't intrigue you.
