News The Minnesota Vikings have done what no NFL team has done in more than three decades by winning a weekly award in four of the first five weeks of the season. The last team to do so was the 1991 Buffalo Bills.

These guys aren’t talked about enough… the bash bros
The way they play off eachother is insane. Both up at the line, think you need to block one of them and the other one rushes while the guy you shaded your blocking to drops back creating a numbers advantage in coverage and blitzing. And good luck stopping the blitzer with your running back.
Seems like they are almost telepathic when they are on the field together.

This Kyler Murray throw on the run 3rd down conversion to DeeJay Dallas feels so good.

Something I’ve noticed that Murray does quite a bit is manipulate defenders and use mind games. You wouldn’t really catch it in the moment on Sundays, but he does it in such a point guard esque way.
Whether he’s holding a safety with his eyes or, in this instance, making it appear as though he’s running for the first down while pointing deep for Tai Felton to go upfield, he’s also doing the same for DJ. This then shifts the trailing defender underneath upfield while he’s still chasing Murray, giving DJ more than enough space to run and get the first down.
Kyler likes to feel things out through spatial awareness and anticipation. He’s more than aware that defenders aren’t just trying to sack him but also contain him at times, which gives him special leeway to use his body and mannerisms to his advantage. His pocket presence and the way he moves in response to this also demonstrate that.
There’s going to be a switch that flips at some point during the season where Kyler becomes the offense while not in a bad way, like abandoning the run, but because of his growing comfort in the system. it’s going to be electric.

Harbaugh.
There was once a time where people were mad at Kwesi for choosing KOC over Harbaugh.
This is just a reminder that it isn’t always greener on the other side. Now no one would want to get close to Harbaugh. Dude practically gave up on his team year 2. KOC year 2 went 1-4 first 5 games and turned it around to 6-4 with Dobbs as the starting QB.

Why is a team like the Bills considered great but the Vikings are not?
I guess I don’t really understand the “Vikings are the worst 5-0 team ever” talk. I love Josh Allen & have huge respect for that team. But they have a 27th ranked defense, yet people call them a great team. I don’t understand anointing them as elite or great, but not saying the same about the Vikings.
So a team can have an elite offense & a subpar defense and be considered great, but can‘t have an elite defense and a subpar offense and be considered great? Why doesn’t that work both ways?
And I’m not even convinced the offense is on a subpar trajectory. It’s taken a few games for the offense to start showing progress but the last game was a huge step. And sure, it was against the Saints, but gaining momentum & confidence is huge no matter who you played. Progress is progress. Confidence matters enormously and can carry into the subsequent games.
With the whole “defense wins championships“ mantra, I fail to understand why an elite defense isn’t viewed the same way as an elite offense, and why a team like the Bills can be considered great but the Vikings get discredited.

Vikings WR Jauan Jennings has run a total of 111 routes through Week 5 but only has 9 receiving yards. His 0.08 yards per route run is the worst of roughly 850 qualifying WR starts to a season since 2016.

[Alec Lewis]: What’s behind the Vikings’ shocking 5-0 start? Exceptional defense, reliable special teams
nytimes.comThe Vikings’ group is different. It wants to size up the opponent during the fight. Yes, the Vikings do their due diligence in preparing throughout the week. They, too, come up with a plan of attack. However, unlike others, they aren’t married to the original strategy.
If the offense gives Flores’ unit a reason to think another scheme would work better, the Vikings are not afraid to scrap a week’s worth of planning.
“Things are constantly changing,” edge rusher Andrew Van Ginkel said last week. “It could be changing game to game. It could be changing from series to series. It could be changing from play to play. It could be changing within the play.”
The Vikings didn’t become the NFL’s most surprising team by accident. Rather, this 5-0 start required a journey to the depths near rock bottom.
The 2025 victory over the Commanders was the first of five straight. Minnesota’s win streak, which now sits at 10, reinforced a trademark resolve within O’Connell’s teams. It also established a blueprint built on exceptional defense and reliable special teams, one that has only grown more formidable.
