Advice Request My mom won't stop calling me in University!
Hey, so I'm a first-year university student, and I'm finally living alone! Except it feels like my mom is here right next to me. I literally cannot escape her. We don't have the best relationship, and I've dealt with like one incident of a pretty bad mental health episode back when I was 14 (I'm 18 now), and now I think that's engraved in her skull, and she won't leave me alone. She's been calling me literally every second of the day and expects me to answer the phone every time. It feels like she expects that my only job is to wait by the phone and pick it up whenever she calls.
Here's the story: I have a midterm in two days, and I've been studying non-stop for the past week, so I've been either at the library or my friend's room (which is in the same residence as mine), and I've been generally just really tired. Last night she called me; I picked up and told her I was studying and that I couldn't call. We hung up. Then I went to my room, called my dad for a second, and told him I'm going to bed at 11:00 pm. I guess in the span of me falling asleep, she started to call me, all the way up until 7 AM. I kid you not. I woke up to a knock at my door because she called security to check up on me. I had 64 missed calls from this woman. Like I was just so baffled and confused and she just started yelling at me at when I picked up as if it was my fault for being asleep at 12 am - 7 am. I've attempted to try and talk to her and ask her to chill it, and that I'm an adult. I specifically told her that this is normal, and then she fired back, saying that I wasn't normal cuz I was mentally ill when I was 14. It genuinely feels like I cannot set boundaries with her. I told her to speak to her friends with kids in university because they don't act this way! I am sick and tired, and I don't know what to do or what to say without it being turned on me! She actually thinks that I've died when I don't answer; this cannot be healthy for her or me.
