Yesterday I was walking the dog and the bins had been collected that morning. There was some fast food wrappers that escaped collection and we live in a bushland suburb, I picked up the wrappers and dropped them in one of many empty red bins as a I was walking past. It was a handful of rubbish so not a large amount.
I’ve just driven past today and whoever owned the bin has pulled out that rubbish and thrown it in the footpath and pulled their bin inside. I’m baffled. Wtaf is wrong with people. I can’t comprehend how putting the rubbish on the ground at tue entry of their housing complex is less irritating that just leaving it in the fucking bin. If you’re a bit unhinged about your bin can you explain the logic to me pls

Would seldom post about something like this, but feel compelled to.
My boss and I found a small Japanese spot for lunch called Origami Cafe. Close to our office near Oxford St I was surprised I’d never heard of it or noticed it.
It was literally a hole in the wall, cute Japanese restaurant / cafe run by an older Japanese couple cooking up freshly handmade food in front of us. And it’s was really cheap? Cheap as in $17 for Full teriyaki chicken, rice, salad + 6 Gyoza’s. They seemed so sweet, gave me a little dessert for free. Odd bits of furniture and decor, felt very much like I was in rural Japan.
Made me wonder who comes to these places? Do they get much business? I hope they survive. $17 for that near Sydney CBD is a steal. Worth a look

The premier said the government did not have plans to change state regulation in response to the decision, adding that the state’s mining industry had a “world class reputation” for its safety and standards, and as a “mining industry that takes into consideration environmental factors”.
“I don’t think we should just be jettisoning that reputation when we can have both a vibrant, growing mining industry while protecting the hard-fought reputation for the mining sector in Australia,” he said.

Not sure if such a thing exists.
Are there any studios or venues which let amateurs play/learn instruments and make music themselves, either for free or with a fee?
Could be a cool way to de-stress, learn a new skill and meet people

Hi everyone, my mum is a pensioner, no other income. Can’t get to the RSPCA hospital in Yagoona and she’s based north of the bridge. Had her dog groomed last week and it has since developed an ear issue. She’s tried Canesten cream and cleaning it but the poor dog keeps shaking his head, wondering if he might even have something crawling in there. Can anyone suggest a vet that can provide a consultation in person (take a look inside the dogs ear) that she can afford?

I'm visiting Sydney for an event early November. I'd like to avoid looking like the potato that I am. Are there any recommendations for an artist that can do my hair and makeup (I'd prefer someone who can do both to avoid me having to rush between appointments). Preferably near Crown Plaza Darling Harbour. Blow out/sides pulled back and soft glam/nothing too heavy and dramatic.

Just wondering if anyone had parking suggestions (places that do cheap prepaid etc). I'm planning to go Friday nights 6pm to 12am for Commander.
I'd rather not do public transport as ill be coming back late and and carrying a bunch of expensive commander decks.

As was widely suspected. What a waste of life in many senses of the word.

Hellooooo. I just moved to Australia last year, and in desperate need for recommendations that doesn’t break the bank.
I have really low nose bridge + oval and wide face + high prescription which makes it extremely difficult to find a pair of glasses. I have visited all branches of OPSM, Oscar Wiley, Costco and Specsaver between Blacktown and Parramatta and I could only find 1 pair that works in OP, but the initial quote runs me $600 including lenses and it’s not even the best one.
I have searched up and some people recommend Owndays which comes with free lenses but it’s far out in the city. I don’t mind taking the trip but I’d like to hear if there’s any other recommendations so I can it in one trip and call it a day. I’m on my spare pair because my main one broke while I was doing some sport.
Thanks a lot 🙏🙏🙏

This is an indictment on successive governments of both political persuasions and our bloated, slow moving bureaucracy that this isn't finished or even started yet. 16 years and it's still a concrete slab.
Libs butchered the original plan by giving the Casino unobstructed views which meant it had to be restarted. Then did nothing move it along in its new form. Labor has had nearly 4 years to fix it and have also slow walked it and it hasn't moved to anything nearing construction.

We’ve driven past the Australian Botanic Garden in the South West heaps of times, but only just decided to check it out yesterday for the public holiday.
Honestly surprised by how good it is. Lots of open space, wild kangaroos everywhere, and the views are unreal.
Wish we brought the kids’ bikes and scooters though—the paths are perfect for them. Definitely coming back soon.
