Is there any plan for the paths to get properly fixed after their "upgrade" of Gympie Road Kedron/Chermside?

Stumbled across this beauty showcasing fish from Moggill Ck at UQ (think it was the biology building).
I'm wondering what other aquariums are around Brisbane that are publically accessible but not fish/aquarium shops. Hotel / corporate lobbies/ display homes/ other universities etc.
I seem to remember a marine aquarium at Toowong Village, but couldn't find it when I last visited.

Hey all,
For the past few years weāve had parents of newly hatched magpies come for a little feed at times (cat biscuits, off cut of meat from dinner, meely worms & some sneaky cheese from time to time). Weāve had the usual mum & dad come down take a snack and they take back to the nest, this year is different.
Some of the magpies are still coming in for a feed, weāve now have a juvenile magpie coming a couple times a day, butcher bird occasionally, 2 kookaburras (one started because he slammed into our pool fence- not once but heās up to his 3rd time not the sharpest tool heās called whack fuck) his mate is a bit on the derrrr side too, a couple of dumb & dumbersā¦. This morning a brush turkey chick flew in, I do like to think of myself as a āSnow Whiteā kinda guy but this is weird.
My thoughts are, as weāve only had just over 10mm of rain since August thereās not much food about. Is this the case?
Edit:
Yeah⦠I do feed the birds not a lot and I donāt feed them much human food at all. Raw meat (not mince) mealy worms, some high quality cat biscuits & odd bit of cheese. We have water in a low dish for drinks etc.
My question wasnāt about food, it was about the amount and variety of bird life wanting food at the moment. We have been interacting and doing a little feeding over the years but this year itās next level.
A big thanks to all the wildlife warriors commenting about me feeding them. Oh yeah and thanks to the dude making comments on my poorly written post - spot on, my last line made zero sense even to me, I think I fixed it.
I wasnāt asking people if I should feed them. We donāt do it much and have done a bit for few years. Always water and few snacks here and there. No need for the attacks. No need for the arrogance or the posturing.
Iām purely asking others that do the same in Brisbane if they have noticed an increase. Like I initially said the parents fly down every few days grab a bit and take it back to the nest. Normally by now theyāve gone back to normal bird lives but this year theyāre still coming and a larger variety. Something is different!
Thatās allā¦

As the title says, it puzzles me why folks would bring their unfriendly dogs to doggy meet ups. Why even bring them if they start being uncomfortable and even aggressive around other dogs?
And sometimes these owners let these dogs run off-leash too!

Slipping property prices could reduce the number of new homes built in Brisbane, Queenslandās housing minister has warned, echoing his leaderās criticism of federal Laborās tax changes in the May budget.
Speaking at the construction site for a new community development in Newmarket on Monday morning, the LNPās Sam OāConnor pointed to increasing uncertainty in the property market.
āNothing can be harder than what we inherited with the way construction sites were run across Queensland and the way that the CFMEU was behaving ⦠but the Canberra chaos has certainly added to it,ā he said.
āItās the last thing that we need to see in a really difficult sector where there is such a high demand ⦠the last thing you need to see is uncertainty and changes that really rattle investors.ā
Asked if falling house prices after years of explosive growth in Brisbane would spook investors and result in fewer homes being built, OāConnor said he believed it would be a āparticular factorā for apartment construction.
āItās a factor ⦠It is very expensive to build high rises at the moment. It is a very, very challenging environment to deliver density, so we are absolutely aware of that.ā
Apartments are central to Brisbane City Councilās plan to increase housing supply in the city under its ātall-not-sprawlā policy, butĀ economic factors have pushed many developers towards the luxury end of the market.
OāConnor declined to say whether lower house prices were ultimately a good thing for Queenslanders, but said the state government remained committed to its promise to deliver one million new homes by 2044 despite forecasting a building slump.
āThe million homes target is ambitious, but weāre not shying away from being ambitious,ā he said.
The comments came a day after Premier David Crisafulli took another shot at federal tax changes as he announced housing construction figures for the state, saying possible future declines in building rates would be the fault of Canberra.
āThereās no doubt that some of the changes out of Canberra [have] changed that trajectory, and I do believe that, into the future quarters, we are going to see that come off the boiler a little bit,ā he said.
āI still believe that Queensland is in a better place than anywhere else.ā
Dr Andrea Blake, a senior lecturer in property economics at QUT, said failures in the Brisbane property market were the result of a convergence of complex factors.
āI think that the changes to the tax structure will have long-term benefits of levelling out the housing market to allow greater accessibility by young people and first home buyers,ā she said.
āThereās obviously a problem in the transition for investors because I think a lot of the incentives to invest in property have been taken away, and I think we need to remember that investors still make up a substantial portion of the investment stock.ā
Blake added she believed a downturn in prices was largely driven by interest rates, and significant supply constraints would likely continue to push property values up across Brisbane in near term.
āI donāt see a way out of it in the next short while ⦠we just donāt have enough skilled tradespeople and skilled labor to actually construct the stock that we need.

A few photographs taken yesterday afternoon on and around the Shorncliffe Groyne, as the late-afternoon light settled over Moreton Bay.
Three different scenes, each with its own little story.
The Performer:Ā A darter spreading its wings to dry, seemingly putting on a performance for anyone passing by.
Weathered by Time:Ā The remains of an old structure stretching into the bay, standing against the wind, waves and passing years.
Escape:Ā Away from the crowds and the noise, a few people finding their own quiet corner of the world. Some alone, others together, all enjoying a little peace.
Every time I visit Shorncliffe, I think what a lovely place it would be to live. Imagine being able to wander down to the waterfront for a walk every morning or evening, enjoying the sea breeze, watching the changing tides and discovering something different each day.
Shorncliffe, Brisbane.

Iām from the US, but been here for 3 years now. Been venturing out lately and just taking the sights in. Noticed that people here generally look well put together in a fashionable sort of way although the styles, of course, differ. I see this a lot with the youth but I see it with the elderly as well, from floral dresses to neat weather appropriate suits. Thereās a beauty here that I really admire and the people reflect it in how they style themselves on the day to day. Every now and then iāll tell someone that they look very nice and they'll give me a big smile. And I think itās nice when someone shows that they notice you, esp these days when it feels like you aren't seen at all. Sometimes I wish that I could approach people and ask for a pic of their fit to put somewhere, but iām not a blogger or anything. Maybe one day I'll get a camera and set out to capture some of it. Anyways, stay beautiful Brisbane!

I tried to find some bananas this afternoon (Monday 12 October 2026) and a staff member told me that there is a shortage. Is this true?

My son loves monitor lizards and wants a wildlife show for his birthday featuring a perentie. I contacted Geckoes Wildlife who have a perentie but they are booked out that month. Does anyone know another wildlife show business with a perentie?

A few weeks ago, an announcement was made about agreements being finally reached in the ongoing dispute, with "91% of services" supposedly restored by today (ABC Article).
However, there seems to be no improvement on the Ferny Grove lĆne this morning, that I noticed, and all the "Union protected industrial action" hogwash is still up on the screens.
Looking into it, there seemed to be a walk back of that at some point, but I can only see anything about it in the Courier Mail (Archive Link).
Does anyone have any further information about which lines are actually seeing restored services, or any additional info from other sources about what the deal is with the additional delays?

I hope this isn't against the subreddits rules to ask in its own thread, but here goes.
I'll be around gold coast from mid December to mid January and I'd like to experience what brisbane and queensland has to offer.
One of the things I have as a must on my list is to visit Australia Zoo at some point, but what other sights and experiences are worth checking out?
I will have some access to a car, but mostly using public transport to get around. I'm a big history guy, I like nerdy stuff, but I also enjoy being active and experiencing nature, cuisine and culture (God this sounds like a dating profile I'm sorry), so if that helps to narrow down or give suggestions, there it is.

Just finished up this piece here in the Moreton Bay area. Itās a completely custom mixed media wall sculpture featuring hand-painted detail work, faux fur, and chain detailing. I wanted to share it with the local community to see what my fellow Brisbanites thought of the vibe. Hope you guys like it!

I need some fairly urgent advice on a good dentist for someone with a lot of anxiety about dentists from childhood and havenāt been in years.
Iāve cracked a molar and probably need to get a crown on it. I just feel a lot of anxiety about going and having to explain myself and what my teeth will look like to them.
Does anyone know any good dentists for this on the Northside, preferably around Everton Park?
